As business owners in Downtown Lake Worth Beach for over 20 years, we have seen remarkable progress in uplifting LWB by the work of the CRA. The CRA has worked hard to attract new businesses who have entered the city and hiring more city residents for these newly created jobs. New residences like the Mid have been built which has increased our property tax rolls, bringing more people into LWB, blighted areas have been acquired and new breath along with new vison has improved our living conditions. Visitors and residents appreciate the art in public spaces projects like the murals project which cements our reputation as an art hub. Do not neglect the necessary work of the CRA to continue to improve LWB. The City Commissioners should not 'take over' the CRA's duties and disband the CRA. Commissioners have a lot on their plate, adding bureaucratic red tape and a layer of a steep learning curve to acquire the CRA required knowledge can not do justice to the needs of the LWB today and into the future. Like the City Utility Commission, having specialized knowledge about the plethora of details involved with navigating regulatory and contractual obligations should be left for folks who specialize in technically specific areas. The CRA is no different, to be successful and provide the best outcomes for the wider community requires unbiased, working knowledge of the community redevelopment process, that knowledge base does not currently sit with City Commissioners. Please leave the pros in place, vote to keep our CRA propelling LWB forward.
